Graphic: Train crushed Okada rider and policeman to death in Lagos.





A commercial motorcycle operator, popularly known as ‘Okada,’ and a police officer, Philip Kolo, have been clash to death at PWD Bus stop, on Agege motor road, Lagos, yesterday 19th September.



The incident took place at about 10 am on Wednesday when the okada rider, with the policeman as passenger, changed into trying to navigate the rail track into Adekunle Fajuyi way, Ikeja G.R.A.

Eyewitnesses said the motorbike rider had sighted the train, which was en-route Ijoko, Ogun State, but his attempt to navigate the rail track before its arrival proved abortive and was crushed to death alongside the passager.

A petty trader at the scene, Adejoke Salawu, said files recovered from the coincidence scene indicated that the passenger was a policeman.



“however he ran out of good fortune while his motorbike was caught at the rail track at that spot. The train crushed the rider and his passenger instantaneous. After the accident, what we saw was their charred bodies and their blood splashed on the rail track,” she stated

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Lagos country police command, CSP Chike Oti, said the deceased police officer was attached to the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit Strike Group, Force Headquarters, Abuja and was in Lagos on an legitimate assignment. His remains had been deposited inside the morgue.
