South-South governors of Nigeria have come in defence of embattled Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen at an emergency meeting in Abuja yesterday 13th January, 2019. They called the move to prosecute the CJN over assist declaration infractions was vindictive and should be condemned by all Nigerians.
The governors also asked the CJN, Onnoghen not to honour the trail open at the Code of Conduct Tribunal today.

The was attended by Governor of Bayelsa, Seriake Dickson, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Ben Ayade of Cross River and Udom Emmanuel of Akwa-Ibom. The meeting was a closed-door meeting.
Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa and Godwin Obaseki of Edo State were both absent at the meeting. CJN, Onnoghen is from Cross River State.
