Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose has accused President Buhari of planning to stop elections in Zamfara State by declaring state of emergency in that state.
Fayose comments came as a result of calls by some Nigerians on President Buhari to declare state of emergency in Zamfara State due to the recent killings in state.

The ex-governor accused President Buhari of being the brain behind the call due to the current INEC bar on APC not to have elective candidates for Zamfara state election in 2019 for failing to meet stipulated party primaries deadline.
The former Governor took to twitter where he wrote:
"I have been reliably informed that the FG is plotting to hide under the killings in Zamfara State by armed bandits to impose emergency rule on the state. This is their response to the insistence of INEC not to allow APC field candidates for the 2019 general election in the state."
With the emergency rule, there will only be Presidential and National Assembly elections in Zamfara in February next year while governorship and State House of Assembly elections will be postponed till May.
Methinks the FG should rather be honest enough to admit its failure to protect Nigerians and apologise to the people of Zamfara State, who were left at the mercy of armed bandits instead of using the killings to achieve political goal.
The APC led FG must be reminded that under the PDP government of Dr Goodluck Jonathan, emergency rule was declared in three states in the Northeast without dismantling democratic institutions.
