Delta State Police Comman launched new squad to crackdown 'Yahoo Boys'





The Delta State Police Command has launched a special squad of detectives to arrest anyone suspected to be a ‘Yahoo Boy’ and ritualist in the State. The special squad came about following the recent killing of 300 level student of Delta State University, Abraka by Yahoo Boys for ritualist purpose.




Following the order to crackdown on Yahoo Boys in the state by the State Governor, Okowa. The commissioner of police in the state, Mustafa Muhammad, who confirmed the development to news men in Asaba on Friday, said six persons suspected to be ‘Yahoo Boys’ were arrested on Thursday around Summit Junction in Asaba with fetish substance, added that the suspects upon interrogation made useful statements to the police.

He said, “our new strategy will pay off with a view to arresting suspected Yahoo, Yahoo boys and ritualists. We are collaborating with other security agencies in the state to ensure that hoodlums, Yahoo, Yahoo boys, and ritualists are brought to book. Any suspect arrested will not be released until investigations are completed. I am happy Deltans are cooperating by way of providing useful information to the police.”



He also assured that all suspect will be prosecuted according to the law and the special squad will operate without police uniform. He added there will be stop-and-stop-and-search across the State, especially hotels, brothels where the suspects usually hide.

Muhammad said that the police detectives have been mandated to comb every nook and cranny in area to ensure the killer suspects are brought to book, disclosing that the police had recently convened a meeting with all stakeholders including the local government chairman in the area and the member representing the area at the state House of Assembly to ensure there is a headway in the matter.
