Sokoto deputy governor Ahmed Aliyu has emerged the APC candidate for governorship.
The governor of the state, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and he is seeking the presidential ticket.
He poulled 2,282 votes while the three other aspirants Faruk Malami Yabo secured 837 votes, Abubakar Abdullahi Gumbi 70 votes and Senator Abubakar Umar Gada 20.
The exercise which started late Sunday night went on till Monday morning when the results were announced.
Aliyu said his win is the work of Allah.
“The just concluded APC primaries has opened a new chapter in our struggle to bring our dear state where it belongs,” he said.
He called on all party supporters to work assiduously for success of the party in the 2019 election.
The APC candidate pledged to ensure that all sectors of development receive desired attention with greater emphasis on skills acquisition and job creation to keep our teeming youths engaged.
Aliyu also said, “I want to assure all our teeming populace that if elected, we will consolidate on the achievement and success recorded by Senator Aliyu Wamakko administration in the state.”
