The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, yesterday paid a visit to the Fela’s Afrika Shrine in Lagos after his brief meeting with the President in Aso Rock.
His first stop was at the State House in Abuja where his discussions with President Buhari focused on security (especially regarding G5S and stabilizing the Sahel), economic issues and the Inter Basin Water Transfer for Lake Chad. Both leaders also signed a number of Agreements.
Tweeting about some of his opinion on the challenges faced by Nigeria, Emmanuel Macron said:
”We have to understand why so many people are joining terrorism. We have to convey 2 messages: – Your government will provide security for you. – Your government will provide opportunities for you.”
After his meeting with President Buhari, Emmanuel Macron proceeded to Lagos state where he met with the governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, at the New Afrika Shrine founded by late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
Some Nigerians however took to Twitter to share fond memories of Afrobeat legend, late Fela Anikulapo Kuti following the historic visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to the New Afrika Shrine.
Emmanuel Macron would be the first foreign president to ever visit the Afrika Shrine, which was chosen because of its cultural background.
