The Unholy Attitude of Great Ogboru and His Supporters Towards O’tega Emerhor

Politics is a game of numbers and structures but it is imperative to note that political parties are platform through which one can be elected. In Nigeria and Delta State history, nobody has become President or Governor by avoiding party primaries.

Great Ogboru and his supporters are use to the slogan “Presidency is interested in Ogboru to become Delta State Governor”. 2019 election is around the Conner and its not an exception to that slogan.

Currently, the leadership of APC in Delta State are in unhealthy crisis over the next congress. The recent peace enjoyed some months back is at the verge of collapsing.

It will interest Great Ogboru and his supporters to know more about the past before undergoing this unholy journey. At the formation of APC different political parties came together to form the party which Great Ogboru and his supporters are fully aware.

At the formation period Great Ogboru with Late Sen. Ewerido were members of DPP. The Late Senator was a serving Senator representing Delta Central at that time, who wanted DPP to be part of the formation of APC but Great Ogboru being the Leader of DPP refused for fear of party primaries.

Unfortunately the Senator past on that year. O’tega Emerhor later became part of that formation of APC and Great Ogboru was reached to join the party at that time but he refused all because Goodluck Jonathan lured him with contracts and a promise of making him the Governor in 2015 to forestall his plans of welcoming the idea of joining APC. The Goodluck Jonathan government was very much interested in reducing APC and Great Ogboru popularity in the State which Great failed to understand at that time.

That single act cause Great Ogboru and APC to lose in wider margin to PDP in the State. Upon realising his mistakes and miscalculations after the elections, Great Ogboru first place of contact was APC national headquarters begging for a merge between his faction Labour Party and APC,  which the party vehemently ejected but advised him to decamp at the Ward level.

Great Ogboru was disappointed knowing fully well how he betrayed O’tega Emerhor and Delta APC. It took Great Ogboru months to have the courage to meet O’tega Emerhor and Delta APC leadership to join APC.

O’tega Emerhor who wholeheartedly build Delta APC through finance and likewise accepted him for brotherly love and politics as a game of numbers. The present claim by Great Ogboru supporters that O’tega Emerhor is politically irrelevant and without larger supporters both in Delta State and his ward is false. That Great Ogboru should control the party because Deltans love him and Presidency behind is a new slogan which is also not true.

One thing Great Ogboru supporters failed to understand is that Deltans are more wiser compared to 2015 and are now know who; Great truly is. Today Great is seen as a man who dine and wine with those he regularly call election ringers at night. E.g Contracts from Jonathan’s government.

Yes today at the National level Buhari became the President all because of the merged, loyality and respect to Tinubu. Till today Tinubu remain the party leader not Mr. President who should be occupying that position. It like this because Buhari has high respect for Tinubu irrespective of his large supporters. Why Great Ogboru not doing the same to O’tega Emerhor? Why Great Ogboru not loyal to O’tega Emerhor when he knew fully well Buhari Is loyal to Tinubu as party leader?

How can a man who negotiated with PDP 2015 election accuse another of having same plans in 2019 election. For APC to take over Delta State in 2019, Great Ogboru need to be loyal to O’tega Emerhor and call his supporters to order. Elections are won with party not individuals.

Taking away party leadership from a man who laboured to build it when they needed you most is the highest disloyal and break of trust.
