The people of Akwa Ibom state danced in happiness yesterday to celebrate the killing of a notorious kidnap kingpin and militants' leader, Akaninyene Jumbo a.k.a Akpafid.
It was learnt that Jumbo escaped to the neigbouring state Rivers state after the police declared him wanted over the multiple of crimes, including robbery, cultism, politically-influenced killings and kidnappings.
It was gathered that the terror man who troubled other states in the South-south and Southeast engaged the military and Special squad assembled for the operation by the inspector-General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris in a gun battle.
Soldiers displayed his body at the military check point at Iwukem junction before it was moved to his hometown, Ikot Ibekwe village in Ukanafun Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom to show the people of the state.
It was understood that his native doctor was also apprehended few days ago in Okirika, Rivers State.
The people of Akwa Ibom believed his death will restore peace in the state and communities as the kidnap kingpin forced people to fled the state before his death.
