The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at its national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja on Thursday, November 30. Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state who is the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum was absent from the meeting. Governors David Umahi of Ebonyi state and Ben Ayade of Cross River state were also reportedly absent, Daily Sun reports.
Other PDP governors absent at the beginning of the meeting were Governor Ishaku Darius of Taraba state and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state.
FG for declaring public holiday At the meeting, the party ratified plans for its national convention scheduled for December 9. Briefing newsmen on the outcome of the meeting, national publicity secretary of the party, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, said over 2,800 delegates made up of special and statutory delegates are expected to participate at the convention to elect the party’s next National Working Committee.
Nobody will have any issue. We are not under any threat that there will be a parallel convention. We are optimistic that we are going to have a successful convention,” he said. Those at present at the NEC meeting were Governors Ibrahim Dakwambo, Nyesom Wike, Emmanuel Udom and Ifeanyi Okowa of Gombe, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Delta states respectively.
