Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Anambra election, Tony Nwoye, has alleged that chieftains and supporters of his party experienced a clampdown by security operatives.
Nwoye made this known shortly after casting his vote at Ofianta Polling Unit 002 in Nsugbe, Anambra East Local Government Area as he claimed that the police officials colluded with ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to compromise the exercise.
He said: “The report I am getting indicates that INEC are trying their best, but I can only score them average.
“But the most worrisome is the attitude of the police in Anambra state. They subjected themselves to be used as a tool of oppression and suppression of the people.
“APGA people have been using them to suppress my supporters. I wonder the interest of the Nigeria police and the military, especially the police.
“You know before the election, Governor Obiano started crying wolf that the Nigeria police has withdrawn his orderly and co, that was a subterfuge, a ploy, for him to use police to unleash them,
“But upon the whole thing, the intimidation, harassment and oppression, I believe we are going to win. If God says we will win, we’ll win.”
