Barely 48 hours after the supreme court validated the
leadership of Ahmed Makarfi as the authentic Chairman of the Peoples Democratic
Party, PDP, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremady yesterday evening led a
powerful PDP delegation to a secret meeting at the Bourdillion Ikoyi resident
of the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola
Ahmed Tinubu.
Though the detail of their meeting was not made public as at
press time, News Punch learned according to an insider privy to the meeting
that it may not be unconnected with political alignment and realignment towards
2019 general election.
A prominent person spotted with Ekweremadu’s Tinubu House
meeting is the Senate Majority Leader Ahmed Lawan.
The PDP had for several months engaged in leadership tussle
with former Borno Governor, Alhaji Ali Modu Sheriff.
There are newspaper reports this morning that the former
member New Peoples Democratic Party, nPDP member who defected to the APC are
already mulling the option of returning to their root, the PDP.
The Ekweremadu led meeting with Tinubu have sparked another
speculation of a different political alliance ahead of 2019
